Portage lake
was my family’s favorite place to go in the summmer. There would always be lake days where we would leave early in the morning and get breakfast and head to Portage Lake. Me and my brother would be really excited to drive around the jetski we had. My dad has such a history with this little lake. He had been coming to this lake ever since HE was little with HIS family. It’s such a cute little jewel of a lake. We go every summer to this lake. Now that I think about it, it’s precious to me and holds so many family memories that I took advantage of. It is so much fun. We would pull up in the parking lot, hoping there wouldn’t be a ton of cars there. (Occasionally there would be TONS of people there for a tri-athalon that is held there once a year. We would always get un lucky and end up there on the same day.) Then we would walk down a big leaf covered shady hill with lots of trees, me and my brother would find a picnic table where we wanted to set up our area, but most likely my parents would want a different one.. then, me and my brother would wait for my parents to go up and get more stuff, and come back down. We all had to carry a bunch of things down the hill. The lake was small. In a jetski you could go around the whole lake in probably less than 5 minutes. When my dad was little, he never knew how big the lake was, he thought it was huge and went a little ways down. When we got the jetski he took it around and was surprised it was merely pond sized :P We went camping at that lake too, there were camp sites. I’ll always have such a vivid memory of this place! I know the ups and downs and ins and outs. <3 Good family memories at this place that I could go on and on about.
